1. Where and when does FolkWest take place?
Folkwest takes place Aug 11-12, 2012 at Royal Athletic Park, 1014 Caledonia Avenue, Victoria, BC Canada. The grounds open at at 10:00am on Saturday, Aug 11 and Sunday, Aug 12. The event wraps up at 9:00pm each night, and there is late night programming Friday, Aug 10 and Saturday, Aug 11 at Logan’s Pub just across the street from the festival (on Cook Street).
2. How do I get there?
By car: From the BC Ferry Schwartz Bay Terminal or the Airport, head south on the Pat Bay Hwy (Hwy 17) which becomes Blanshard Street. Turn left onto Caledonia Ave (at The Save-On-Foods Memorial Arena). Drive 2 blocks and look for the parking lot on the left. City of Victoria pay parking rates. Space is limited.
From the Trans Canada #1 Hwy, drive south and this becomes Douglas Street. Continue south and turn left onto Caledonia Ave. Drive 3 blocks and look for the parking lot as described above.
Ride your bike: FolkWest’s Bike Valet takes the hassle out of biking with a fenced-in monitored parking area organized by volunteers. Drop off your bike any time and pick it up at the end of the show by donation!
Take the bus: BC Transit routes #24 & #25 stop on Cook Street right beside Royal Athletic Park. The others stop close by. Adult fare $2.50, Seniors 65+ and youth 6-18 $1.65 with I.D. Click the routes to see BC Transit maps.

Taxis: A few parking spaces on the Cook Street side of Royal Athletic park have been set aside to create a safe, efficient taxi stand.
3. What if I have too much stuff to carry around?
FolkWest is offering a valet check service run by volunteers. Your items will be housed in the locker room below the main bleachers.
4. Is FolkWest a family event?
YES! FolkWest is great fun for all ages! The KidsFest area will have activities such as hands-on art projects, bubble station, and pick-up field games. The great folks from the Swan Lake Christmas Hill Nature Sanctuary will be there and The Greater Victoria Compost Education Centre! Entertainment provided by the Kerplunks, as well as the SunShine Clown Company and Merlin’s Sun Puppets.
5. Will there be food? Is there a beer garden?
When you get hungry, there will be plenty of tasty choices at the Festival of Food! The Phillips Beverage Garden will be open with a great view of the mainstage, but of course will only be serving their tasty brews and Merridale Cider to those aged 19+.
6. Will there be other vendors?
Absolutely. FolkWest’s Artisan Fest will showcase some of the finest craftsmen, artists and designers from Vancouver Island.
